The Smart Local new space will be filled by young and motivated staff dedicated to bringing local trivia and information, debunking certain myths that there is nothing to do in Singapore. The interior space therefore needed to personify that youthfulness. A concerted effort was also needed to debunk veer away from the typical tech start-up look.
Materials palettes were therefore made neutral with tinges of blues to reflect the corporate colours of the office. Ancillary spaces were pushed to the edges, aligning to the structural grid of the industrial space while the main working space is made open and inviting, with the tables easily configurable to suit the different needs of each employee.
Spaces also catered to the lifestyle of the working individual in the organisation. Nap rooms, common dining areas and recreational areas form integral parts of this tech start-up.
