Our Story
The name, Provolk, was birth out of a play on words: "pro" meaning "in support of", and "volk", the German word for people. Simply put, we make sure that people are at the centre of our designs.
Founded in 2013 by Jonathan Poh, Provolk Architects designs in context for people, always provoking the status quo. Every project starts with a workshop to figure out what a space needs to do for the exact people who'll live in it before we draw a single line.
We work across scales, from landed home reconstructions and renovations to hospitality, retail, and heritage conservation. We maintain the same rigour, every time, regardless of size.

Making Approval Invisible
What it takes to reconstruct a landed home from URA approval to the client's first weekend in it.
Qualified Person's (QP) work done well means the client barely notices it happened.
Living With The Tropics
Rethinking indoor comfort in Singapore with air movement and setpoint temperature, and why "sustainable" and "comfortable" aren't always the same thing.
Making Heritage Work
Conservation as an active practice, not a plaque, starting from our groundup initiative in Dakota Crescent to ongoing work with DOCOMOMO Singapore.
Small Spaces Hard At Work
Apartments, retail and interior reconfigurations where every square foot has to earn its place.
